FreshMenu suspended operations nationwide in April 2026, amid a cash crunch and reports that payments to vendors and employees had been delayed for several months.

Since then, Dil Foods — a virtual-restaurant operator — has entered a brand licensing and operator agreement allowing it to restart operations under the FreshMenu name, with a distress acquisition reportedly discussed.

This is the second time this review has found the same shape: a brand separated from the company that built it, and carried on by somebody else. A licensing agreement is an even looser link than an outright sale — the name is being operated under licence, which means the menu, the kitchens, the staff and the obligations may all be different while the logo is identical.

The practical consequences, which are the same ones this review draws every time it finds this pattern: any wallet balance, credit or outstanding refund from before the suspension is a claim against the original business, and a licensee is generally not obliged to honour the licensor's debts. Referral terms published before April 2026 should be treated as void until the current operator publishes its own. And reviews from before the suspension describe different kitchens and different staff — on food, that is not a technicality, it is the entire product.

On the pre-suspension referral terms: the record gives ₹100 off a first order above ₹300, plus ₹50 off your next order, capped at ₹500 a month — roughly a 33% discount on the qualifying order, not the "100% cashback" that has sometimes been quoted for this store, which would imply a completely free meal. ₹100 off ₹300 is a perfectly respectable offer; it is simply a different one from a full discount, and a separately quoted "20% off first order" does not appear in the underlying terms at all.

What to do if you are considering ordering from a relaunched cloud-kitchen brand, which is the only useful advice left here: check whether it actually delivers to you today, rather than assuming the old city list holds. A relaunch under licence almost always starts smaller than the business that failed. Pay per order — do not buy credit, passes or prepaid plans from a brand that suspended operations within the last year; this is the clearest case in the whole catalogue for that rule, because here the suspension is not a risk but a matter of record. And judge it on recent reviews only — anything written before April 2026 is about a different kitchen.
