magicpin has two earning routes that constantly get merged into one. Separating them tells you which effort is worth making.

The referral pays vouchers. Refer someone successfully and you receive a voucher; the person you refer receives magicPoints on signing up with your code, with the referrer receiving a smaller number of points alongside the voucher. Amounts move with campaigns and the ones circulating on listing sites are snapshots rather than terms.

Uploading bills is the other mechanic, and it is what the old title described. You photograph a receipt from a partner merchant and earn magicPoints for it. That is not a referral at all — it is a cashback-style reward for spending you already did, and it continues indefinitely rather than being capped by how many friends you have.

Knowing which is which matters because they suit different people. If you eat out locally and shop at partner merchants regularly, the bill-upload route generates points continuously with no dependence on anyone else. If you have friends who would use the app, the referral pays a voucher up front. The two are additive, not alternatives.

magicPoints are magicpin's in-app currency, spent on vouchers and discounts at partner merchants. That makes their value entirely dependent on whether the merchants near you are ones you would use anyway. magicpin's coverage is strongest in Indian metros and around restaurants, salons and local retail — in a well-covered area the points convert into genuine savings, and in a thinly covered one they convert into nothing you want.

That is the honest test to apply before investing effort: open the app, look at the partner merchants within a reasonable distance, and decide whether you would spend money there regardless. If the answer is no, neither mechanic is worth pursuing however generous the headline.
