A five-figure referral number is not a per-referral rate. Knowing what it actually describes tells you which scheme you are being offered.

"Earn up to ₹80,000" is not a referral rate. It is a ceiling, and a ceiling that large tells you something specific about which scheme is on offer.

This project established the distinction in its SaaS research and it holds everywhere. Small, fixed rewards are user referral schemes — built for telling a colleague, paid per introduction. Percentages of revenue, or five-figure ceilings, are AFFILIATE or PARTNER schemes — built for people who publish at volume, and reached only by tiers.

So the question that resolves this offer is: what does the FIRST referral pay? That number, not the ceiling, is what applies to somebody recommending a course to a friend. Ask for the tier table before assuming anything, because "up to ₹80,000" is almost certainly the top of a structure that begins far lower and requires sustained volume to climb.

The ceiling construction is one this project has now documented across many categories — Bybit's "up to 1,717 USDT", Gate.io's "$6,666", Freecash's "case worth up to $250", Zingoy's "up to 50% cashback". The rule has never failed: "up to X" describes a best case that is rare by design, and the honest reading is to find the base and treat the ceiling as marketing.

And there is a second reason a five-figure education referral deserves scrutiny, which is more important than the arithmetic.

A referral fee of that size means the platform is buying customers at scale, and that changes your role. A ₹250 shopping referral is a thank-you. A ₹5,000 or ₹80,000 education referral is a commission, and someone earning commissions on course enrolments is, functionally, doing sales. That is not improper — but it is worth being conscious of, because the person you refer will assume you are a friend making a recommendation rather than a party with a financial interest in their enrolment.

Our standing position across this project is that disclosure resolves it. If you refer someone to a paid course, say what you receive. It costs you nothing, it is what you would want to know in their position, and it is the difference between a recommendation and a sales pitch.

Now the substance, because the education itself is what actually matters to the person enrolling.

Placement assistance is not placement, and the distinction is the single most important one in this category. "Assistance" typically means CV help, mock interviews and introductions to a hiring network. It is not an outcome commitment, and it does not mean a job. Ask for the specific wording, because providers that guarantee outcomes say so in contractual terms and providers that do not use words like "support", "assistance" and "opportunities".

What to establish before enrolling on any programme in this category:

The fee, in full, including any financing. If it is "pay after placement", read our Masai page — that model is a credit agreement with an NBFC, and there are documented routes to owing the full amount without a job.
How placement statistics are calculated — the denominator, the time window and which roles count. A percentage without its definition is not information.
Whether the course is live or recorded, since the two are very different products at very different costs to deliver, and platforms offering both frequently advertise the live experience while selling the recorded one.
What happens if you stop. Refund windows, and whether any financing accelerates.
Who teaches it, and whether that person is contactable before you pay.

And the general test for paid upskilling: what specifically will you be able to do afterwards that you cannot do now, and who says so besides the seller? If the answer is only the seller, the course is asking you to take its word for the one thing you cannot verify in advance.
