Nectar and DreamCloud are usually compared against each other. They belong to the same company — and that company has settled an FTC case about how one of them was advertised.

Nectar is a memory foam mattress brand sold direct to consumer. Its referral pays a $100 Amazon gift card. Two facts about the company behind it are more useful than that figure.

**Nectar and DreamCloud are the same company.** Resident Home LLC owns Nectar, DreamCloud, Awara and Siena. **Resident Home has an FTC order against it.** Resident Home LLC and its owner Ran Reske **paid $753,000** to settle Federal Trade Commission charges that they made false, misleading or unsupported claims that imported **DreamCloud** mattresses were made from 100% USA-made materials. The FTC characterised the respondent as a "Made in USA" repeat offender when it issued its order in October 2021, and in March 2023 the Commission **sent payments to consumers who had been deceived** by the claims.

That is worth stating carefully. It concerns country-of-origin advertising for a sibling brand, not the construction or safety of a Nectar mattress, and a settlement is not an admission of everything alleged. But "Made in USA" is not a decorative claim — people pay more for it deliberately, which is why the FTC pursues it, and a repeat-offender finding speaks to how a company's marketing claims are generated rather than to one slogan.

The practical consequence for a buyer is narrow and real: treat provenance and materials claims from this group as things to verify rather than to accept, and do not treat Nectar and DreamCloud as independent options that corroborate each other.

**The review layer does not help you here either.** The mattress category's "independent" comparison sites are heavily consolidated: **Pillar4 Media owns Sleepopolis, Mattress Advisor, Mattress Nerd and Mattress Clarity.** The category also has a documented history of brands financing reviewers — in 2017 Casper financed, by way of a loan, the acquisition of Sleepopolis by JAKK Media, after Casper had sued three review sites, and Sleepopolis' assessment of Casper subsequently improved. The **FTC's 2024 Consumer Reviews and Testimonials Rule** now requires clear and conspicuous disclosure of such connections, with deceptive review practices punishable by up to **$51,744 per violation**, which tells you how seriously the problem is taken and how common it has been.

On the offer itself, apply the two standing questions from the Casper precedent: which models are excluded from the referral discount, and does it stack with the sitewide sale? These brands discount for most of the year, and on a four-figure purchase the sale is usually worth more than a $100 gift card — which is in any case a card, not money: single merchant, less than face value to issue, and not applicable to the mattress.
