Nestaway Referral Code
NestAway's referral reward is reported inconsistently — and the company behind it was sold in 2023 at a 95% valuation cut
NestAway is an Indian managed home-rental platform. It was acquired by Aurum PropTech in June 2023 for around $11 million, having been valued at $220 million in 2019, and continues to operate under that ownership.

NestAway's referral reward is reported inconsistently — some material states ₹2,000 per referral, other material states ₹1,000 each, and other material describes a ₹2,000/₹1,000 split between referrer and friend — so none should be relied on without confirming in the app; what is consistent is that both sides are rewarded once the referred person takes up a stay, possibly after as little as two days. Behind that sits a change of ownership: valued at $220 million in 2019, NestAway was acquired by Aurum PropTech in June 2023 for around $11 million, a 95% cut, after raising roughly ₹905 crore from backers including Tiger Global and Flipkart. This was not a collapse — the service continued and Aurum operates it today. The number that matters to a tenant is the security deposit, not the bonus.

Why Choose Nestaway?
₹1,000 in some places, ₹2,000 in others, occasionally split as ₹2,000 for the referrer and ₹1,000 rent credit for the friend.
$220m in 2019 to about $11m in June 2023. Investors lost the value; the service continued under Aurum PropTech.
Aurum committed around ₹30 crore to stabilise NestAway and later bought PropTiger for about ₹86.45 crore in July 2025.
Money that is yours, held by someone else, returned on their terms. India has no statutory deposit-protection scheme for this arrangement.
About Nestaway
Reported referral figures for this programme vary. Behind that sits a more useful fact: this company changed hands in a distress sale, and the service survived it.
Start with the reward figure, because reported material does not agree on it.
Reported figures do not agree. One description states "₹2,000 per referral". Another states "₹1,000 each when they complete their stay". Another states "once your friend completes at least 2 days of their stay, both you and your friend will receive ₹2,000 each". And another states "you can earn ₹2,000 for every successful referral; your friend gets ₹1,000 credit on their first month rent." None of these should be picked and presented as verified. What is consistent across them is the shape: a reward on both sides, triggered by the referred person actually taking up a stay rather than merely signing up — possibly after as little as two days of that stay. Confirm the current figure in the app before relying on it.
Now the fact worth the page.
NestAway was valued at $220 million in 2019. In June 2023 it was acquired by Aurum PropTech for around $11 million — roughly ₹90 crore — a cut of about 95%. The company had raised roughly ₹905 crore from investors over eight years, with backers including Tiger Global and Flipkart. Aurum also committed around ₹30 crore of fresh capital to stabilise the business.
And here is what most write-ups of that story get wrong for a reader's purposes: this is not a collapse.
Aurum PropTech owns and operates NestAway today. Aurum's own reported total income rose to about ₹284.98 crore in 2024-25 from ₹233.07 crore the year before, and the group has continued to acquire in the sector — it also bought the brokerage platform PropTiger for about ₹86.45 crore in July 2025. The service continued through the change of ownership.
This is a different structure from other platform failures, and the difference matters to you. When a bookkeeping platform shut down abruptly, its customers lost access to their own records. When an affiliate network was retired, publishers had a deadline to export their data. Here, investors lost about 95% of a valuation and customers lost nothing. A steep down-round is a story about shareholders. It is only a story about you if it affects the company's ability to hold your money — which brings us to the only number on this page you should actually act on.
In a rental platform, your exposure is the deposit.
Not the referral. Not the valuation. The security deposit — money that is yours, held by someone else, returned at the end on terms set largely by them. So the questions to settle in writing before you move in, with any managed-rental company anywhere:
1. How much is the deposit, expressed in months of rent?
2. Exactly what can be deducted from it, and who decides? "Damage" and "normal wear and tear" are the line where disputes happen; get the definition, not the word.
3. How many days after you vacate is it returned, and what happens if that deadline passes?
4. Photograph and date every room at move-in and again at move-out. This costs nothing and settles most disputes before they start.
5. Is your deposit held separately from the operating business, or is it simply on the company's balance sheet? In India there is no equivalent of the UK's statutory deposit-protection schemes for this kind of arrangement, so the answer is a matter of contract and of the company's finances, not of a scheme that will step in.
Point five is the reason the ownership history above matters here at all. Not to alarm you — the business is operating and has a corporate parent behind it — but because "who is holding my deposit, and how solid are they?" is a fair question to ask of any rental platform, and the answer here has changed in recent years.
Two smaller notes. The reward has also been described elsewhere as instant, which is not compatible with a condition requiring a completed stay. And no cap on referrals is published, so treat any claim of an unlimited scheme as unverified in the usual way.
