ySense has a structural advantage over most of this category and shares an owner with its biggest competitor. Both facts are worth knowing before you decide how to use it.

ySense — previously ClixSense — pays for completing surveys, watching videos and completing offers, with payment by PayPal, Skrill or gift cards. It was acquired by Prodege LLC in 2019.

Two things distinguish it, and they pull in opposite directions.

The advantage: it pays in dollars. Most of this category runs on a proprietary points currency, which introduces a conversion rate the platform sets, can change, and can vary by redemption option. ySense's balances are denominated in actual US dollars, so what you see is what you have. That is a genuine structural advantage over its own corporate sibling Swagbucks, which pays in SB at roughly 100 SB to the dollar — and it is the kind of difference that gets lost when both sites are described in the same "earn free gift cards" language. If you dislike not knowing what your balance is worth, this is the one in the family that answers that.

The complication: it is in a family. Prodege LLC, of El Segundo, California, owns ySense, Swagbucks, Upromise (2020), MyPoints (2016), ShopAtHome (2017), InboxDollars (2019), CouponCause (2020) and Pollfish. Swagbucks and Upromise both have pages on this site.

The universal advice in paid surveys is to join several platforms so that you have more surveys available and are not dependent on one operator. That reasoning fails when the platforms share a parent. Signing up to ySense and Swagbucks gives you two logins, overlapping survey inventory, one corporate privacy family, and one counterparty holding both balances. It is not hidden — Prodege publishes its acquisitions — but nobody meets that fact while reading two separate rewards sites, which is exactly why it belongs here.

If your aim is genuinely more distinct inventory, look for panels run by actual market research firms rather than by rewards aggregators. Ipsos i-Say, on this site, is run by one of the largest research companies in the world and is not a Prodege property.

The category caveats still apply. Screen-outs — being disqualified several minutes into a survey — are the main gap between advertised and realised earnings, and any honest hourly rate must be computed across attempted surveys rather than completed ones. Check the minimum payout and the inactivity policy before accumulating a balance, since those two numbers determine whether money ever reaches you. And nobody earns a meaningful income here; the realistic case is converting dead time into small amounts that actually withdraw.

On that last measure ySense does better than most, because dollars withdraw cleanly and there is no redemption table between you and the money.
