First, the arithmetic. Honeygain credits convert at 1,000 credits to $1. So:

The earning rate works out at roughly 1 credit per 10 MB relayed, or about $0.10 per gigabyte, and realistic monthly earnings for a typical home connection are commonly reported in the $1 to $3 range. On top of that, Honeygain's published payout terms apply a 15% transaction fee to PayPal withdrawals — so the $20 you spent months reaching arrives as roughly $17.

Put those together and the picture is clear: it takes most users the better part of a year to reach a first payout, and the payout is reduced on the way out. Most major consumer internet providers forbid using a residential line for commercial bandwidth resale, and running proxyware typically falls within those clauses. Enforcement is uncommon but not nonexistent — the realistic outcomes are throttling, being moved to a business tariff, or losing service.

You do not control what goes through. You are permitting people you cannot identify to use the internet from your connection. Most of that traffic is ordinary commercial web-data collection. Some proportion of traffic on any large residential proxy network is not, and in some jurisdictions activity attributed to your IP can become your problem. The platforms' terms of service generally indemnify the platform rather than the user, which tells you who is expected to carry that risk. And the third: the compensation for all of that is a dollar or two a month.

That is the honest trade. Not "earn from unused internet" — rent your residential IP address, in probable breach of your ISP contract, to unidentified third parties, for about $0.10 per gigabyte. Some people will look at that and take it. The purpose of this page is that they take it knowingly, which no listing in this category currently allows.
