Smytten's referral is paid in two parts and the larger part waits for a delivery. Both halves are worth knowing before you judge the headline.

Smytten's referral pays in two stages. You receive 25 Bucks when your friend signs up with your code, and a further 125 Bucks once their first order has been delivered — 150 in total, with five sixths of it waiting on a delivery rather than a signup.

That split is the useful thing to understand. A friend who installs the app, registers and browses without ordering leaves 125 of the 150 unpaid indefinitely. And because Smytten's core proposition is trial-sized samples that people collect without necessarily converting to a full order, a signup that never becomes a delivery is a realistic outcome rather than an edge case.

Your friend gets a good deal on their side: applying the code gives them trial points to spend on samples and cashback on their first order.

Two caps apply, and they are unusually generous. You can refer up to 100 people per month, and earn up to ₹2,000 worth of trial points per month from the programme. Most Indian consumer apps cap referrals in single or low double digits, so this is a comparatively open programme for anyone genuinely sharing it.

The currency is the thing to be clear about. Bucks and trial points are Smytten's in-app currencies, spent on samples and products within the app rather than withdrawn. That is coherent with what Smytten is — a discovery platform where the point is trying things you would not buy at full size — but it means the reward is only worth something if you actually want to sample products. If you do not, ₹2,000 of trial points a month is ₹2,000 of nothing.

Worth saying about the model, because it explains the economics: brands pay to put samples in front of potential customers, which is why trials are cheap or free. You are the distribution, not the customer, and the products offered are the ones brands are trying to seed. That is a fair exchange as long as you go in understanding it — the selection reflects marketing budgets rather than what is best in a category.
