How to Use a Tangerine Referral Code
Get an Orange Key
Every Tangerine client has one. It is a code rather than a link, so it can simply be passed on.
Enter it while signing up
The new client enrols using the Orange Key and opens their first Tangerine account. Credit cards are excluded.
Deposit at least $250 within 60 days
An initial deposit or investment of $250 or more, made within 60 days of becoming a client.
Leave it there for 60 days
The $250 minimum balance has to hold for 60 consecutive days starting from that deposit.
Both sides receive $50
Up to six referrals per calendar year for the referring client.

About Tangerine
Most banks issue a personal link that only works from inside an account. Tangerine issues an Orange Key: a code, unique to each client, that a new customer types in when they sign up.
Tangerine is a Canadian direct bank. Its referral programme pays $50 to the existing client and $50 to the new one, and it works through an Orange Key — a unique code given to every Tangerine client, which the new customer enters during sign-up.
That matters more than it sounds. Almost every bank referral programme now issues a personal link generated inside an account, which is why searches for a "referral code" so often end in disappointment. Tangerine still issues a code.
The conditions are on the new client's side and they run for two months. They must enrol using a valid Orange Key, open their first Tangerine account (credit cards do not count), make an initial deposit or investment of at least $250 within 60 days, and then maintain a $250 balance for 60 consecutive days, counted from the day that deposit is made. Taking the money out early undoes it.
The cap is six friends a year, so $300, and it is strict about the calendar: the allowance renews on 1 January, and any unused referrals are forfeited rather than carried forward. The programme itself is ongoing with no expiry date.
