Q: What if I only spend in-app coins rather than rupees?

That does not change the analysis. "Other stakes" is defined to include credits, coins, tokens or objects, real or virtual, recognised as equivalent or convertible to money and purchased directly or indirectly in relation to the game.

Q: The app is still being updated — doesn't that mean it is cleared?

No. Availability is not a determination. The Rules have been in force since 1 May 2026 and classification rests with the Authority; an app continuing to ship updates tells you about the operator's intentions, not about its status.

Q: I have a balance on the platform — what should I do?

Withdraw it. The operator's own materials describe immediate cash-out by UPI or bank transfer, and taking a balance out costs you nothing regardless of how any classification eventually lands.

The Act separately defines "other stakes" to include credits, coins, tokens or objects — real or virtual — where they are recognised as equivalent or convertible to money and purchased directly or indirectly in relation to the game.

So the question is: to enter a tournament that can pay you money, does the app require you to pay a fee, make a deposit, or spend coins you bought? If yes, that is what section 2 describes, whatever the tournament is called and however much skill Ludo or 8 Ball Pool involves. If no — if entry is free and prizes come from advertising — it is outside the definition, in the same way the free-entry quiz discussed on our Qureka page is.

Two things follow that are worth being blunt about. First, the "skill gaming" positioning that this and many similar platforms use was a meaningful legal category before August 2025 and is meaningless now. The entire point of the Act's drafting was to stop skill being the dividing line, because that was the argument on which the industry had been built. Anyone still leading with it is describing the pre-2025 world. Second, a purchasable in-app currency does not create a safe harbour. The "other stakes" limb was written precisely to catch coins and tokens convertible to money.

If you are already holding a balance on a platform of this kind, the prudent course is to withdraw it and watch what the operator does, rather than to assume that continued availability implies clearance. Availability is not a determination.
