Start with what that rate means, because it is the most informative number in this batch.

A 60% commission on a hosting sale is enormous by the standards of consumer software. Compare it to the other stores in this batch: Airtable gives $10 in account credit, ClickUp up to $5 per referral. Those are user referral schemes — small, credit-denominated, designed for an existing customer telling a colleague. A 60% revenue share is a different instrument entirely. It is designed for publishers, and it is large enough to fund the creation of content whose sole purpose is to sell hosting.

When one signup can pay a commission on this scale, producing hosting comparison content becomes a business rather than a service, and the ranking within those articles tracks commission rates considerably more reliably than it tracks uptime, support quality or performance. The corollary for you as a buyer is the single most useful practical fact about this whole category: the introductory price is not the price. Check the renewal rate before you commit, because it is frequently several times the headline figure and it is where the business actually earns.

Two more things to check that no commission-funded comparison will emphasise. What the migration path off the host looks like, because switching cost is what makes a bad renewal price stick. And what the refund terms are on a multi-year prepayment, since committing for three years at an introductory rate is how the discount is earned.

None of this says Hostinger is a poor host — it competes seriously on price and has a substantial customer base. It says that the enthusiasm you encounter for it online is a purchased signal, that the number to compare across hosts is the renewal price rather than the introductory one, and that a "referral" paying 60% is a commercial relationship you would be expected to disclose when promoting.
