About Red Energy
Red Energy is one of very few energy referral schemes that lets you choose the currency of your reward: a $25 eGift card, or 1,500 Qantas Points if you are on the right plan.
Red Energy is an Australian gas and electricity retailer owned by Snowy Hydro. Its refer-a-friend scheme is unusual in offering a choice of reward: either a $25 eGift card or 1,500 Qantas Points, available to both the referring and the referred customer.
The points option is conditional. To take Qantas Points instead of the gift card you must be on a Qantas Red plan — customers on other plans take the eGift card.
The reward is earned once the referred customer's electricity or gas account has transferred to Red, and it requires the referring customer to still hold a residential or small business account with Red and to have paid any outstanding amounts. Falling behind on your own bill costs you the reward on someone else's switch.
The deadline is the part most likely to catch people. A Reward Code must be activated within three months of being issued, or access to the reward is forfeited outright. It is not extended and it is not reissued.
The offer covers residential and small business customers in eligible areas of VIC, SA, NSW, QLD and ACT.
