Digital Ocean Referral Code
$25 when they spend $25 of their own money
DigitalOcean is a cloud hosting provider for developers. New users get $200 in credit over 60 days, and the referrer earns $25 in credit once that user completes $25 of billing excluding promo credits.
Genie Says
DigitalOcean gives new users $200 in credit over 60 days and pays the referrer $25 once that user completes $25 of billing excluding promo credits — so the free credit does not count and a referee who never outgrows it pays you nothing. Earnings are uncapped but arrive as hosting credit rather than cash.

How to Use a Digital Ocean Referral Code
Share your referral link
From the referral dashboard under Account Settings. There is no cap on total earnings.
They get $200 for 60 days
A genuinely useful new-user offer — it covers a small droplet for months, which is also why so many referrals stall here.
They spend $25 of their own
Promo credits are excluded. Your referee has to exhaust the free credit and then actually pay before you are credited.
$25 credit to your account
Offsets your own DigitalOcean bill. It is not cash, so it is worth nothing if you no longer host there.

Why Choose Digital Ocean?
Your $25 requires $25 of billing excluding promo credits. Someone who never outgrows their free credit pays you nothing, however genuine the signup.
A hobby project that dies inside the 60-day credit window is worth zero. Someone migrating production is worth $25 fairly quickly.
Earnings are uncapped, which is rare — but they offset your own hosting bill rather than paying out, so they are worthless if you leave the platform.
About Digital Ocean
DigitalOcean's referral is generous on the new user's side and much harder on yours, because of a four-word exclusion that decides whether you are ever paid.
A new user signing up through your DigitalOcean referral link receives $200 in credit to use over their first 60 days. That is one of the more generous new-user offers in cloud hosting and it is genuinely useful — it covers a small production droplet for months.
Your side is where the detail matters. You receive $25 in credit once the referred user completes $25 of billing, excluding promo credits.
Those last three words carry the whole programme. The $200 they were given does not count. Neither does any other promotional credit on their account. Your referee has to burn through the free credit and then actually pay DigitalOcean $25 of their own money before you see anything. Given that $200 covers roughly two months of typical small-project usage, and given how many people spin up a droplet to try something and tear it down before the credit runs out, a large proportion of perfectly genuine referrals never pay.
The practical consequence is about who you refer. Someone evaluating DigitalOcean for a hobby project that will never outlive the free credit is worth nothing to you. Someone moving a real workload onto it is worth $25, and reasonably quickly. This is not a programme where volume helps.
There is no cap on how much you can earn, which is unusual and welcome — the constraint here is conversion, not a ceiling.
The reward is DigitalOcean credit rather than cash. It offsets your own hosting bill and cannot be withdrawn, so its value depends entirely on you being a DigitalOcean customer yourself. If you have moved off the platform, referrals earn you credit you will never spend.
