What you are buying is access to a market you cannot easily reach. Whether that is worth the margin depends on whether you could reach it yourself.

Ubuy's product is access. It sources goods from markets you may not be able to buy from directly — chiefly the United States — and delivers them where you are.

That solves a genuine and underrated problem. A great many products are simply not sold in a given country, or are sold there at a substantial markup, or are available only through sellers who will not ship internationally. For a specific item you actually want and cannot otherwise get, a cross-border reseller is a real service — and this page starts there rather than with scepticism.

But the honest question is whether you could reach that market yourself, because the answer changes the value considerably.

Where a reseller genuinely earns its margin:

The origin seller will not ship to your country at all, which is common for US retailers.
You cannot pay with the cards or methods that seller accepts.
The item requires consolidation from several sources into one shipment.
You do not want to deal with customs paperwork, and the reseller handles clearance as part of the price.

Where it does not:

The item is available domestically at a comparable landed cost, which is worth checking before ordering.
The origin retailer ships internationally itself, in which case you are paying a margin for something you could have done directly.

So work out the landed cost properly, because as our AliExpress page sets out, the listing price is the first of five numbers: item, shipping, VAT, customs duty and any carrier handling fee. For EU buyers, note that the €150 duty exemption ended on 1 July 2026, replaced by a flat €3 per product category charged per tariff heading. Other jurisdictions differ — check yours rather than assuming any figure quoted on a website applies to you.

Now the question almost nobody asks about cross-border purchases, and it is the most consequential one: what happens to the warranty?

A manufacturer's warranty is frequently valid only in the market where the product was sold, and a service centre in your country may decline to honour a warranty on a unit intended for another market. That is not a defect in the reseller — it is how international warranty terms commonly work — but it means an expensive item bought cross-border can be effectively unwarranted where you live.

So before buying anything expensive or electrical this way, establish:

Who honours the warranty and where — the manufacturer locally, the reseller, or nobody.
Whether a repair would require shipping the item back internationally, and at whose cost. On a heavy item that cost frequently exceeds the repair.
Whether the model is even the same. Products are often specified differently for different markets — different frequencies, different power supplies, different software regions — and a model number that looks identical may not be.

And the compatibility checks, which are dull and prevent the worst outcomes:

Plug type and voltage. Many devices are dual-voltage and many are not, and an adaptor changes the plug shape without changing the voltage.
Wireless frequency bands on phones and networking equipment, which determine whether a device works properly on local networks.
Regional locking on media, games consoles and some appliances.
Language and software region, which on some devices cannot be changed after purchase.

On the transaction itself:

Establish the return path before ordering. International returns on a reseller purchase are frequently impractical, and a return right that costs more to exercise than the item is worth is not a return right in any useful sense.
Pay by a method with a chargeback route.
Keep the listing and the order confirmation, since a dispute rests on what was specified.
Expect longer delivery windows and check the stated range before ordering anything time-sensitive.

The summary: this is a legitimate service solving a real problem, and the two questions that decide whether to use it are whether you could buy directly, and whether the warranty will exist where you live.
