Four things recur.

There is a withdrawal minimum. You generally need $20 accumulated before you can take anything out, and the withdraw button stays locked below that threshold. A single referral does not reach it, which is the mechanism's central feature rather than an inconvenience.

The reward is often not money. A large share of the disappointment reported comes from a mismatch between the headline and the payout type — "money" offers that turn out to be store credit, coupons, or rewards conditional on further action. Credit spendable only on Temu is a different thing from cash, and the interface does not always make the distinction obvious at the point you are being encouraged to share.

The referred person usually has to do something. Rewards commonly require the new user to complete tasks — frequently including making a purchase — before anything unlocks. A friend who installs the app on your recommendation and browses has not completed your referral.

And the draw mechanics loop back on themselves.
