That ownership is a genuine contrast with smaller Indian self-drive operators — some run as few as sixty cars in a single state. A leasing group's balance sheet behind a rental fleet changes what you should expect: more consistent vehicle age and maintenance, more formal deposit and claims handling, and far less risk of the operator simply vanishing. It also usually means less flexibility and stricter enforcement of terms than a small local operator would offer.

Separately, MyChoize participates in the InterMiles loyalty programme, reportedly earning 10 InterMiles per ₹100 spent on a self-drive booking. What a mile is worth depends entirely on how you redeem it, so no conversion is stated here — but if you already collect InterMiles, that is a real and measurable earn rate.

What actually matters when renting a self-drive car in India, and is worth more than any referral:
1. The security deposit — the amount, the method, and how long the refund takes. This is the commonest dispute in the category. Get it in writing before you pay.
2. The kilometre cap and the per-kilometre charge beyond it. Many Indian self-drive rates include a daily limit, and a single long day can exceed it, which means the advertised daily rate is frequently not what you pay. Work out your likely distance before booking, not after.
3. The fuel policy — whether you return it full, and how a shortfall is priced.
4. The insurance excess on damage, and whether it can be reduced for a fee.
5. Photograph the vehicle thoroughly at pick-up and return, with timestamps — including wheels, bumpers, windscreen and the underside if you can. This takes two minutes, costs nothing, and is the single most valuable habit in car rental anywhere in the world.
