Two writing platforms in this batch pay in completely different ways, and the difference decides what your effort is worth.

read.cash and Publish0x both pay people to write, and they are funded in opposite ways. Understanding that difference is the most useful thing on this page.

On read.cash, readers tip writers. You publish an article with images or video, and a reader who likes it can upvote by sending an amount of Bitcoin Cash to your wallet. The money comes from other people who chose to send it.

On Publish0x, the platform funds a pool and hands each reader a tip to distribute. The money comes from the company.

That distinction determines what your writing is worth and what you should do about it:

A platform-funded pool makes your earnings depend on the platform's funding decisions. Write brilliantly and the pool is unchanged. Write poorly and the pool is unchanged. Your effort is largely decoupled from your income, which is comfortable in the short run and precarious in the long run — the pool can be reduced, restructured or paid in a different token, as Publish0x's move to USDC-only tipping on 13 July 2025 demonstrates.
Reader-funded tips make your earnings depend on building an audience. That is far harder and much slower, and almost nobody earns meaningfully from it early on. But it is the version that scales with being genuinely good, and it cannot be unilaterally reduced by a company changing its budget.

Neither is better in the abstract. They suit different people, and the honest advice is to know which one you are on. If you want small predictable amounts for consistent activity, a pool model fits. If you are trying to build something, reader funding is the only one of the two where doing better actually pays more.

This project's first editorial rule is never to invent a number, and where sources conflict or cannot be verified we publish the mechanism and say so. We could not verify current reward levels or platform activity on read.cash to a standard we would stand behind, so this page does not claim any. Check the site directly before investing time: look at recent posts, whether they are dated recently, and what tips they are actually receiving. That takes two minutes and is worth more than any figure we could print.

On being paid in Bitcoin Cash. Tips arrive in BCH, which means the amount is worth what BCH is worth when you convert it, not when you received it. This project has documented the same structure repeatedly — Crypto.com paying in CRO, CoinJar and Cointree paying in Bitcoin, exchanges paying commissions in USDT. The rule is the same each time: if the dollar figure is what you want, convert promptly; if you are content holding the asset, it makes no difference. What matters is knowing which you are choosing.

⚠️ And the tax point, which is disproportionate to the sums involved. In India a reward paid in cryptocurrency is an acquisition of a virtual digital asset: it needs a cost basis, becomes a taxable disposal on conversion at a flat 30% plus 4% cess, permits no offset of losses against other crypto, other income or future years, attracts 1% TDS per transfer under Section 194S, and belongs in Schedule VDA — with Schedule FA also applying to foreign platforms, which carries no minimum value exemption. A stream of small tips can generate more paperwork than money.

What to check before writing here: whether the platform is currently active, with recent posts receiving real tips; the withdrawal path and any minimum; what happens to your work if the platform closes — whether you retain and can export what you wrote is the question most writing platforms are never asked; and whether you would write the same thing anyway. If the answer to the last is yes, everything else is upside.
