Genie Says

Sky pays up to £100 per referred friend and up to £500 a year across a five-friend cap — so the old "up to £100" headline actually understated the annual maximum, an unusually rare case of an offer being undersold. But none of it is cash: rewards come as prepaid Mastercards or retailer vouchers that cannot pay a direct debit and typically expire, the per-friend amount depends on which service the friend takes so £500 assumes all five buy a top-value product, and the reward arrives roughly 75 days after sign-up rather than instantly, since the friend must stay 30 days, pay a first bill, and wait up to 45 days for issue. The programme is UK-only, excludes anyone at your own address, and the listing's Android link wrongly points at Sky Mexico's app.

How to Use a Sky Referral Code

Know the real cap is £500, not £100

Five friends per year at up to £100 each. The old headline quoted the per-friend figure as though it were the total.

Expect a prepaid card, not money

It spends almost anywhere, but it cannot pay a direct debit, usually cannot be withdrawn as cash, and typically expires.

Allow about 75 days

30 days as a customer, plus a first bill, plus up to 45 days for the voucher to issue.

Price the contract, not the voucher

Multiply the monthly price by the full 18–24 month term and check the annual mid-contract price-rise clause.

Why Choose Sky?

The one headline that undersold

It said £100 where the store's own FAQ gives a £500 annual cap. First time in over two hundred batches that an error favoured the reader.

None of it is cash

Prepaid Mastercards or retailer vouchers. Better than store credit, still not money in your bank — and they expire.

£500 assumes all five take a top-value product

The amount depends on which service the friend selects, which is the unstated condition under the headline.

The app link is now the UK one

It previously pointed at Sky Mexico's app on a UK-only programme. Corrected to Sky UK's own account app.

About Sky

The unusual thing about this listing is that its headline undersold the offer. Everything else about it overstated.

Something unusual happens on this page: the headline understated the offer. It said "earn up to £100" while the store's own FAQ puts the annual maximum at £500 — five friends per year at up to £100 each. The arithmetic is consistent (5 × £100 = £500); the headline simply quoted the per-friend figure as though it were the total.

That said, three things sit between £500 and anything you would recognise as £500.

First, it is not cash. Rewards are issued as prepaid Mastercards or digital vouchers for retailers such as Amazon and Tesco. That is better than store credit, because a prepaid Mastercard spends almost anywhere — but it is still not money in your bank. It cannot pay a direct debit, it usually cannot be withdrawn as cash, and prepaid cards typically carry an expiry date. Treat it as shopping, not income, and use it before it lapses.

Second, "up to £100" depends entirely on which product the friend takes. The FAQ is explicit that the amount is "based on the service selected by the friend" — so a Sky Mobile sign-up and a full Sky Glass and broadband package will not pay the same. Reaching £500 requires all five friends to take a top-value product, which is the unstated condition under the headline figure.

Third, the cap is five friends per year — after which you earn nothing further until the year turns.

The "instant rewards" claim is the worst of the three, and it is wrong by about two and a half months. The store's own FAQ sets out the chain: the friend must sign up, then remain a customer for at least 30 days, then pay their first bill — and vouchers are issued within 45 days after that. Add it up and you are roughly 75 days from sign-up to reward, assuming nothing goes wrong.

A separate and more serious defect in the source record: the Android app link points at package sky.com.mx.appsky. The .mx is Mexico. This listing's own FAQ states the programme is available only to residents of the United Kingdom, so the page was sending UK readers to Sky Mexico's application. That is an asset error rather than a content one and cannot be fixed from this field.

The eligibility rules are stricter than most: you must be an existing Sky customer; the friend must be new to Sky; both parties must be UK residents aged 18 or over; and you cannot refer yourself or anyone at the same address. That last rule rules out household members, which is usually the first person anyone thinks of.

And the point worth more than the voucher: a TV, broadband and mobile contract is a multi-year commitment, typically 18 to 24 months. Multiply the monthly price by the full term before comparing anything, and check the mid-contract price-rise clause, which UK providers apply annually and which is never in the advertised price. A £100 voucher against a contract that costs £1,200 over its term is a rounding error — so choose the package on its total cost and treat the referral as a bonus, never as a reason.
