Betfair Referral Code
4.0On the Betfair Exchange you choose between promotions and the low commission rate — you cannot have both
Betfair is an online betting exchange, owned by Flutter Entertainment, where customers bet against each other rather than against a bookmaker and the operator takes commission on net winnings.
Genie Says
Betfair is an exchange: you bet against other customers and it takes commission on net winnings. The decisive fact about its promotions is that My Betfair Rewards offers 8%, 5% or 2% commission, and the 2% tier makes you ineligible for promotions — so a bonus is bought with a higher commission rate. Against the 5% GB base rate the gap is three percentage points, meaning a £10 reward is repaid after about £333 of net winnings. Separately, the Expert Fee replaced the Premium Charge on 6 January 2025: 20% of gross profit between £25,000 and £100,000 over 52 active weeks and 40% above, with the maximum rate down from 60%. Owned by Flutter, alongside Paddy Power, Sky Bet, PokerStars and FanDuel.
Top Betfair Referral Codes
Referral codes are not listed for Betfair. It is a licensed operator and this is a jurisdictional decision rather than any finding against it: sections 5 to 7 of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025 do not turn on where an operator is licensed. The page itself remains published, including the point that Betfair's lowest commission tier excludes you from promotions, so a referral bonus is bought with a higher commission rate.

How to Use a Betfair Referral Code
Find out which commission tier you are on
My Betfair Rewards offers 8%, 5% or 2%. The GB market base rate is 5%; the 2% tier is the lowest available.
Note that 2% excludes promotions
Choosing the lowest commission makes you ineligible for welcome offers, Best Odds Guaranteed and other promotions. The bonus and the rate are alternatives.
Divide the reward by the rate difference
Three percentage points between the 2% tier and the 5% base rate. A £10 reward is repaid after about £333 of net winnings.
Read the Expert Fee terms before building a strategy
Above £25,000 gross profit in 52 active weeks and 100 markets, the exchange takes 20% of profit, and 40% above £100,000.
Reward Details
- Your Reward
- Check whether it pays as cash or a free bet — a free bet returns winnings excluding the stake, so it is worth less than the same figure in cash.
- Referrer Reward
- Varies. Whatever the amount, taking promotions means forgoing the 2% commission tier — a £10 reward is repaid at roughly £333 of net winnings against the 5% base rate.
- Minimum Purchase
- The referred person must normally deposit and place a qualifying bet.
- Validity
- Commission tiers and promotional eligibility are set in My Betfair Rewards, not in the referral terms. Check both.
- Available In
- UK
- Referral Limit
- Referral schemes have historically been capped. Confirm the current cap.
- Payout Time
- After the referred person's qualifying bet settles.
- Eligibility
- Separately, the Expert Fee (from 6 January 2025, replacing the Premium Charge) takes 20% of gross profit between £25,000 and £100,000 over 52 active weeks and 40% above that, less commission already paid.
Why Choose Betfair?
You bet against other customers. Betfair takes a share of net winnings per market rather than taking a position.
Which makes any bonus computable: reward divided by the rate difference gives the winnings at which you have paid it back.
Maximum rate down from 60% to 40%, and a rolling 52-week window instead of a lifetime-only calculation.
Several apparent alternatives share one owner — the same finding our LookFantastic, PIA and Goibibo pages make in other categories.
About Betfair
A referral bonus on the Exchange is not free. Taking promotions means taking a higher commission rate, and the difference is easy to compute.
Betfair is an exchange, not a bookmaker, and almost everything useful about it follows from that. You bet against other customers rather than against the house. Betfair does not take a position on the outcome; it takes commission on net winnings in each market. That is a genuinely different product from a sportsbook, and it has two consequences that no promotional page mentions.
Consequence one: the referral bonus and the low commission rate are alternatives.
Betfair's My Betfair Rewards structure lets a customer sit on 8%, 5% or 2% commission. The market base rate for GB customers is 5%. The 2% option is the lowest available — and choosing it makes you ineligible for promotions, including welcome offers and Best Odds Guaranteed.
So a referral bonus is not an addition to the product. It is a thing you buy with a higher commission rate, and the price is computable. The gap between the 2% tier and the 5% base rate is three percentage points of every net win. Against a £10 referral reward:
£10 ÷ 0.03 = about £333 of net winnings.
Past roughly £333 of net winnings, you have handed back more in extra commission than the bonus ever gave you, and every pound after that is a loss relative to simply having taken the 2% tier. This is the same arithmetic as our capped-percentage rule from the Domino's page — "X% off up to ₹Y" is true at exactly one basket size — applied to a recurring cost rather than a one-off discount. Any promotion attached to a tiered pricing product should be evaluated this way: find what the promotion costs per unit, and divide.
Whether that favours you depends entirely on volume. A customer who bets occasionally and wins modestly may never reach the crossover and is better off taking the promotions. A customer with real turnover crosses it quickly, and the 2% tier is worth far more than any welcome offer. The offer is designed to be attractive to exactly the customers for whom it is worst value, which is the general shape of promotional pricing everywhere.
Consequence two: if you are good at this, there is a second charge — and it is the thing to know before you start.
On 6 January 2025 Betfair replaced its long-standing Premium Charge with the Expert Fee. As reported, it applies where your lifetime account is in profit, your gross profit over the last 52 active weeks exceeds £25,000, and you have bet in more than 100 markets. The rate is 20% of profit between £25,000 and £100,000 and 40% above £100,000, less commission already paid that week.
Two things changed with it, and both are worth stating plainly because the direction is not obvious. The maximum rate fell from 60% to 40% — the old Premium Charge reached up to 60% for the most consistently profitable, heaviest users. And the calculation moved to a rolling 52-week window rather than a lifetime-only basis, so the charge can fall back to zero if profitability declines. Betfair has said the change more than halves the number of customers who generate any additional charge; the Premium Charge was always described as affecting under 0.5% of customers.
The honest framing: this affects very few people, and if it affects you, you are doing extremely well. But it is the answer to a question that a normal reading of the site never surfaces — "what happens if I win consistently?" — and the answer is that above a threshold the exchange takes a share of profits on top of commission. Anyone building a strategy around exchange trading should read Betfair's own Expert Fee FAQ before, not after.
Ownership, for the same reason it appears on our Unibet page. Betfair belongs to Flutter Entertainment, the world's largest online betting company, alongside Paddy Power, Sky Betting & Gaming, PokerStars, FanDuel and Sportsbet. Paddy Power and Betfair merged in February 2016; Flutter acquired The Stars Group, and with it PokerStars and Sky Bet, in 2020. Several brands a British customer would naturally treat as alternatives to one another share an owner.
One India note. Flutter ceased all real-money operations at Junglee Games in August 2025 following India's ban on online real-money gaming, with the brand moving to free-to-play. That is the same Act described on our FairPlay page in this batch, and it shows what compliance looks like when the operator is a listed company with something to lose.
The remaining questions, if you are evaluating a Betfair referral: which commission tier you would otherwise sit on; whether the reward is cash or a free bet — a free bet returns winnings excluding the stake; and what the referred person must deposit and stake before anything pays. Then divide, as above.
