zooplus's referral has an eligibility gate on your side, not your friend's, and it is the reason some people cannot find the programme at all.

zooplus pays 350 Zoopoints for every new customer who signs up through your unique referral link and places an order worth at least €19, or the equivalent in local currency. Your friend receives a 10% welcome coupon.

The condition that catches people is on your side. To participate at all you must have created a "my zooplus" account and completed an order in the shop. Only then does the Refer a Friend section appear in your account with a personalised link. Someone who registers, looks around and tries to share a referral before ordering will not find the programme — and that is the usual explanation when people report the referral link "not working".

The second condition is your friend's order value. €19 is a low bar for pet food, where a single bag or a case of wet food usually clears it, but it does exclude the small accessory purchases people often make first. Worth mentioning if you are pointing someone at a specific item.

Zoopoints are zooplus's loyalty currency rather than cash. They are collected and redeemed against products in a dedicated rewards section, so their value depends on whether that catalogue contains things you would use. For a pet owner buying regularly, points accumulate alongside ordinary spending and convert into real items. For an occasional buyer, 350 points on its own is unlikely to reach anything worthwhile — loyalty currencies of this kind generally price rewards to require accumulation.

Two things worth knowing about the retailer, since they matter more than the referral. zooplus competes primarily on price and range across a very large catalogue, and its economics favour bulk — the per-unit price on large bags and multipacks is where the saving is, and small orders are comparatively poor value once delivery is factored in. That happens to align with the €19 threshold, which most genuine pet-food orders clear comfortably.

If your friend has a pet on a prescription or specialist diet, availability rather than price is usually the deciding factor, and that is the honest thing to check before recommending any pet retailer.
